About the RSP

 
 

The Responsible Sourcing Program covers key ingredients in the vegetables and spices supply chain. Suppliers working on Spices are mainly located in India, whereas suppliers working on Vegetables are mainly located in Europe. The RSP provides support for both groups, their farmers and communities through tailored approaches to comply with the Nestlé Responsible Sourcing Standard aiming to deliver positive impacts on people, food, and the planet.

Ensuring international ethical standards are respected across farms and processors; and improving transparency of the product origins to ensure they are traceable within the Nestlé supply chain.

Carbon Footprint

Reducing the agricultural impact on the environment through sustainable agricultural practices that improve soil health, optimise water use, and minimise impacts from nutrients, agrochemicals, and waste.

Restored
Biodiversity

Supporting ecological infrastructure on and around the farmland to protect, restore and enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Efficiency

Leverage existing knowledge and expertise as much as possible.

Holistic Approach

All stakeholders collaborate towards improvement in inter-linked aspects for sustainability.

Specific projects will be driven based on a global framework and tailored to the local context.

 

Where we work with spices

Agriculture is the most important sector of Indian economy, representing 18% of India's GDP and providing employment to 50% of the country’s workforce. 

The RSP focuses on five states and 16 districts were spices production is key for local economy.

Where we work with vegetables

The main goal is to ensure respect of ethical standards, reduce the environmental impact of agricultural practices and enhance biodiversity within Nestlé's vegetables supply chain. Suppliers working on vegetables are located in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Ukraine, Serbia and Poland.

Main crops include: Onion, Parsnip, Carrot, Pea, Potato, Coriander, Tomato, Bell pepper, Parsley, Beetroot, Celery, Green Bean, Leek, Parsnip, Garlic, Parsnip, Asparagus, Broccoli, Spinach, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Dill.
