Healthier soils, healthier future.

Last year, on November 19th and 20th, farmers and technicians from Badajoz, Spain, joined a training session about soil and conservation tillage, led by the University of Cordoba and the implementing partners of the Nestlé Responsible Sourcing Program for Vegetables and Spices., and focusing on best practices for soil and tillage management, crop rotation and winter soil covers for industrial tomato and bell peppers.

Farmers showed high interest and - most importantly – a string commitment to implement practices that preserve and restore the soil in their farms, as noted by Armando Gomez, Cooperativa Extremeña del Tomate: “We need to improve our tillage practices for tomato crop, and cover crops and also find service providers that have the adequate equipment for the correct tillage practices we’re looking for.”
